Surrendering Our Personality

Part of seeking God’s will for our lives is surrendering our personalities.  How we do this depends on our commitment to Him.

In this study, part 2 of “What Is Our Reason For Being?” from Pastor Fryer’s study at Independent Bible Baptist Church.

Finding our reason for being depends on our committal of our entire personality to God.  Even when we surrender ourselves to God, we will see that it will not be easy.

Ephesians 3:20-21–

Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, (21) Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.

God provides the way, as seen in I John 2:15-17Love not the world, neither the things that arein the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. (16) For all that isin the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. (17) And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

What factors most hinder us from doing God’s will?  Sinful nature, environment, heredity, will, mind, body, emotions, life.

The process of doing God’s will is accomplished through a vision of God’s purpose for your life, a commitment of your whole personality to God, and actions based on God’s provision for doing His will.

The story of humanity is characterized by self-centeredness.  Will we pursue our own will or the Lord’s?
