Busy-ness and Worship

It’s nearing the end of the school year here-only one more week to go!  Then, we go to visiting mode, with visits to Grandpa’s house, the non-custodial parents’ houses (Kevin’s dad and Michael and Jessica’s mom), and camps.  The days once filled with school books and studying and papers and all the classroom things will be replaced with outside time, fishing and playing in the park, swimming, and romping around and wearing themselves out.

While we go through the summer months and all the busy times that come with it, we shouldn’t forget to worship the Lord who created the beautiful weather we will be basking in.  Whether we stay in our home town or visit all over the country, we must not forget to visit the house of worship!  And, we shouldn’t just limit it to church, but spread worship of our Lord to every outlet we can!

Pastor Fryer, our pastor at Independent Bible Baptist Church, put together a bulletin this past week with an acrostic for worship:

W–Willingly giving up my wants for His Wants—“Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed (Holy, Perfect) is thy name!!”

O–Obeying Him no matter what the cost from inside and outside the family of God!  And in the process respecting authority just as though we would want others to give us respect.

R–Rightly dividing the Word of God–allowing the author Jesus Christ to be the sole beneficiary of our love and devotion–allowing the Living Word of God to motivate and guide us into all truth.

S–Service only to God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit..allowing only the will of the Trinity which is never contrary to each other.

H–Having our sins forgiven not only as a sinner to be presented as a glorious church without spot or wrinkle, but alsot o have that one on one relationship with Jesus Christ, truly guided by the Holy Spirit, never contradicting God.

I–Influencing others to take the walk of faith into the kingdom of God–and be totally ready for heaven.

P–Preparing our lives by reading God’s Word, following the example of Jesus and being truly a witness and mirroring the image of Christ.

While we go through the summer season, let’s not forget to worship!!

Don’t forget, during the summer season (and most of the fall), Sunny Patch Cottage is doing a Psalm a Day, Monday through Friday!  Stop by each day for a Psalm and a little something to think on throughout your day.

May the Lord bless you!
