Solomon is taking a second look at his statement found in Ecclesiastes 1:18 “wisdom did not make life worth living”, and he answers the question found in verse 6:12.
Wisdom helps us see clearly.
Ecc 7:11 Wisdom is good with an inheritance: and by it there is profit to them that see the sun.
Ecc 7:12 For wisdom is a defence, and money is a defence: but the excellency of knowledge is, that wisdom giveth life to them that have it.
The person that has wealth but lacks wisdom will only waste his fortune.
Proverbs 27:24–For riches
are not for ever: and doth the crown endure to every generation?
Deu 8:13 And when thy herds and thy flocks multiply, and thy silver and thy gold is multiplied, and all that thou hast is multiplied;
Deu 8:14 Then thine heart be lifted up, and thou forget the LORD thy God, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage;
Trust not in oppression, and become not vain in robbery: if riches increase, set not your heart upon them.
And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.
Solomon talks about Providence in Ecclesiastes 7:13. This is an invitation to a life yielded to the will of God. We don’t understand all the works of God.
He hath made everything beautiful in His time.
The Serenity prayer used by many support groups can be applied:
“O God give us: Serenity to accept what cannot be changed, Courage to change what should be changed, And wisdom to distinguish the one from the other.”
